Twitter, una experiencia personal.

Llegué a Twitter dentro en la ola de curiosidad por la nueva red social. Escuché hablar de ella en algunos programas de radio y me interesó. No tengo cuenta en Facebook, ni quise tener, ni la quiero tener. Tengo cuenta en LinkenIn pero poco la uso. Con Twitter fue distinto.

Defiendo la utilidad de Twitter. Más que una red social para comentar qué está pasando,  cómo estás o  qué estás haciendo creo que es un espacio de comunicación muy interesante. La brevedad me ha permitido desarrollar habilidades de síntesis, me exige crear ideas, que creo, deben tener algún nivel de profundidad, y deben decir algo de verdad. Aunque en mi caso la uso más para leer que para escribir.

En Twitter, por ejemplo, me enteré de la muerte del gran periodista y cronista Ernesto McCausland. Con seguridad creo que había visto alguna de sus crónicas, pero poco sabía de él. Por su muerte descubrí a otro grande: Alberto Salcedo Ramos. Desde esa época lo leo cada domingo reglamentariamente, no porque sea una regla sino porque es un deleite leerlo. Tanto al uno como al otro, los encontré gracias a Twitter.

En Twitter me enteré, tarde pero a tiempo, del desarrollo del Encuentro Internacional de Educación 2012-2013. Digo tarde porque me enteré el día de la clausura. El Encuentro comenzó hace 18 meses, tiempo en el que investigadores y académicos han debatido los temas relacionados con la educación del siglo XXI. A tiempo, porque gracias a internet puedo “revivirlo”.

El Encuentro del que hablo tuvo como hashtag #EIE_FT. Aunque no puede ver la última conferencia del evento, sí la pude seguir con atención vía Twitter. Comentarios, frases importantes, y enlaces, quedaron guardados para poder consultarlos más adelante.

Twitter también me ha servido como ejercicio educativo. En mis clases he utilizado la herramienta como espacio de escritura. Bajo el #LeerEscribir mis estudiantes han comentado algunas lecturas, han recomendado textos, y han podido escribir sobre lo que leer. Excelente utilidad. Claro que con poco impacto. Según una encuesta la mayoría no estuvo de acuerdo con el uso de esta herramienta con esta finalidad.

Defiendo la utilidad de la red social. Twitter se puede convertir, en el contexto educativo, en una libreta de apuntes y en un tablero en donde la cercanía con la información de interés está a uno o dos clics. Mientras hablamos de aprender constantemente Twitter es una herramienta que nos sirve para ello.
